When Covid-19 hit in early 2020, WebPT switched its entire workforce to be at home. WebPT has a close-knit company culture and after being with the company for more than 4 years, my co-workers had really become my second family. It became difficult to connect with anyone outside of our direct teams and challenging to meet any new employees. This ultimately led to creating two internal video series to help the company feel closer together even though we were apart. Working on this project has been extremely satisfying and will always be one of the things I’m most proud of producing in my career.

I was commissioned by Brown Community Management to tell their story in “documercial” form. I handled all aspects of production on this film except for the drone photography. My friend Blaze Malan helped with that.

Josh Hanagarne is a writer and a librarian in Salt Lake City who’s written beautifully about his experiences with Tourette syndrome.

In 2010, Gerda Saunders learned that she has dementia. She was 61 years old at the time, and a professor at the University of Utah who was already recognizing symptoms in herself. This short film is the first in a series of portraits about Gerda and the family and friends that surround her with love.

Gerda has a progressive form of dementia. When the time is right, Gerda Saunders is going to take her own life. Of course, identifying the right time is going to be difficult, but she knows her family will support her when she makes the call. Life is over, she says, when you stop having the ability to make your mark in the world.

Gerda has progressive dementia. She went with her husband to the doctor for her latest evaluation, a series of memory tests. The results gave her a sense of urgency, and oddly, relief. As Gerda says, “I’m really not making this up.”

David Carrier is an evolutionary biologist at the University of Utah. Last fall, he coauthored a paper that argued the human fist evolved for fighting. He and his team were caught off guard by the controversy it generated.

People get tattoos for lots of different reasons. Some tattoos are just good art presented on the canvas of the body. Other tattoos tell a story. There were lots of stories and lots of great art walking around the 2016 Salt Lake City International Tattoo Convention at the Salt Palace.
